Things to Know About Child Care
Why is Quality Important?
Research has consistently shown that the quality of care a child receives is in the early years has
a lifelong effect on intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development. This makes the choice
of child care one of the most important and challenging decisions a parent can make. So take your time
in choosing child care.
There is more to consider when choosing child care beyond hours of service, convenient location and cost.
In a quality program you should expect to see small groups and low child to adult ratios, allowing prompt
attention to your child's needs. In addition to being safe, an environment should be challenging and comfortable.
Above all, the relationship with your caregiver should leave you feeling secure about having your child in the
program.
